Base Housing, Friends, Church and Mommyhood :)

Hey readers! Okay to start off, we have been living on base in our current house since March.  I definitely like this housing area better than the other housing development when we first moved here.  Most people seem to be more mature and have less parties than the other place (which is always a good thing!).  There are always mommy and me meet-ups during the weekdays which keep us(Levi and me) busy, especially when Thomas deploys.  I have met some friends whose husbands are in the same battalion which will be good when they are gone that way I will always have some one to talk to.

Speaking of friends, I have met few life-long friends along my journey as a Military wife so far, but many temporary friends.  Why you may ask?  Reason being is because not everyone we/I meet are headed in the same direction and career path as we are.  I mean, we will be nice to anyone really, but to have that bond as true friends takes a lot more.  For me personally, a life-long friend is someone who has the same morals and beliefs as us..not saying we are too good and can't hang out with some one because they aren't the same, but this is just very important to us as a family and a couple.  Some people don't like it and that's fine :-/  Secondly, it would be easier if a couple desired the Marine Corps like we do.  Obviously we don't like it 100 percent of the time, but it's what and who we are.  And some of you reading this are probably thinking I am "too picky" or what ever, but this is what is important to Thomas and me :)

I am so glad that we go to church.  We are not perfect nor will we ever be, but the church building is a place where we can put all things aside and worship our God!  I don't know everything and I am not trying to make it seem like I do, but I know what I know and I am ALWAYS wanting to learn more!!  We have met a young couple (even though they are older than us), that we feel like we can relate to.  Not many couples go to church especially in the Marines, but I am so glad we found people like us!  We don't know them very much yet, but i have been praying that we can all grow together in our marriages and in Christ as friends :)

Finally, mommyhood!  I love it.  Everything about it, even the trials we go through (example:baby constipation right now..boo!!)  I love Levi's smile. I love breast feeding him. I love cloth-diapering!!  I am anxious to see who he will become, but I am living everyday and soaking it all in!  I hope this blog wasn't too random and wasn't too boring but these topics have been on my mind and I finally decided to blog about it.  Have a wonderful day!

Levi's Arrival!

Hi everyone!  I haven't written on here for a very long time.  Anyways since then a lot has changed.  We had a baby boy on Novemebr 10, 2010.  His name is Levi James Horrocks.  He was born at 10:54 AM weighing 7 pounds 11 ounces and 18 inches long.  He was born all natural too!  My active labor lasted not even 3 hours from the time I checked in at the hospital to the time he was born.  He was a little jaundice, so we had to stay in the hospital until the 14th.  Unfortunately, Thomas was not able to be there for the birth :( He didn't meet Levi until December 17th when he came back from deployment.  He was, however able to skype with us a few times at the ports on the way back.  So that was good.  He is such a great dad!  And Levi definitely loves his daddy.  More to come soon!!

October 2009

Hi all!  Thomas comes back from Bridgeport on next Friday.  I can't wait! I think I am going to make him(and for the house) a bunch of our favorite cookies as a "welcome home" from the field.  On Friday before I go to work, I am going to put chili in the crock pot and make cornbread (aka my favorite meal) so that way he will have a nice homecooked meal when he gets home.  Yep I am Betty Crocker of Camp Pendleton :)

Other than missing him a LOT...everything is going good here.  I can't remember if I mentioned  this in the last post but I just started working at the little exchange in North Camp Pendleton.  It's a job for now and that's why I am working there.  I had an interview with a Child Development Center yesterday and I think I did really well, but I have to wait until next week to find out either way.  They had several interviews yesterday and today so I pray that I sparked something in the interview because I was the very first one to go.  Whatever happens is whats best.  But anyways that's all for now and plus its bedtime :) xoxo

September 2009

Hi everyone!  We have lived here in California for almost 3 months now.  We have made friends and lost some "friends" here but it's ok because we are stronger now.  We have been too Knott's Berry Farm, Seaworld, Disneyland, and Las Vegas being the most recent trip we have made.  We go to the beach here on base just about as often as we can.  It doesn't get too hot here which is good.  We are living life the best way we know how as two 21 year olds on a Marine Corps base.

We did find a church that we plan to attend regularly now.  It is called Lighthouse Christian Church off base in Oceanside.  We are praying that we get to come home for Christmas but it depends on if I get a call about a job at the MCX.  If I do then I already know that I won't be able to get off work.  It also depends on our finances too.  Money doesn't grow on trees ya know?!  Its hard living on base with no housing pay (because it already gets taken out automatically so its like not even having any at all) and Thomas only being an E3 rank and bills on top of that and after groceries...its tougher than I thought...I mean I knew it was going to be tough, just not this tough.  I do Passion Parties too.  It is kind of slow right now but that's because I don't really have the word out.  I have only had one party so far, which was my open for business party when a few of my friends came over for support.

I am going to try to be more organized.  It's tough for me because I get side-tracked so easy.  I got an idea from Jon and Kate's website.  (Yes, I am a fan of the show and I am Team Kate personally).  The idea is for each week, try and have a weekly Bible verse, that way I think about God's word constantly not just on Sundays.  And I am sure my readers can agree with me on this one that some weeks are tougher than others and you stray from the word and the truth.  I am also hoping to get baptized at the church in Oceanside.  Honestly, I am a believer and I don't know why I haven't been yet.  Anyways I am going to go do some wifey chores but you are more than welcome to facebook me...I will probably be deleting my myspace soon because there is too much drama!! And we don't need that in our lives!!  Talk to you guys soon!! xoxo
